Insulet는 Omnipod(R) 인슐린 관리 시스템(Omnipod 시스템)으로 튜브리스 인슐린 펌프[https://www.myomnipod.com/explore-omnipod/omnipod-system/ ] 기술 분야에서 선두를 달리고 있다. 이번 계약 조건에 따라 Ascensia의 CONTOUR(R)NEXT ONE 혈당 모니터링 시스템(blood glucose monitoring system, BGMS)을 Insulet가 현재 개발 중인 차세대 Omnipod 시스템(Omnipod Dash™ 시스템)에 연결할 예정이다. CONTOUR(R)NEXT ONE BGMS와 Omnipod Dash™ 시스템을 원활하게 연결함으로써 매우 정확한 혈당 수치를 바탕으로 당뇨병을 관리할 수 있는 혁신적이고 지속적인 인슐린 전달 시스템을 당뇨병 환자에게 제공할 수 있게 됐다.
CONTOUR(R)NEXT ONE BGMS는 저전력 블루투스(Bluetooth Low Energy, BLE)를 통해 Omnipod Dash™ Personal Diabetes Manager (Omnipod Dash™ PDM)에 연결되어 사용자의 혈당 수치를 자동으로 시스템에 직접 전송한다. Omnipod Dash™ PDM는 전송받은 혈당 수치를 바탕으로 인슐린 복용량을 계산하고, 당뇨병 환자를 위한 고도로 정확한 인슐린 전달을 지원한다. 이번에 체결된 국제적인 비독점 계약의 조건에 따라 Insulet는 CONTOUR(R)NEXT ONE 측정기와 CONTOUR(R)NEXT 검사지를 제공할 Ascensia Diabetes Care와 협력함으로써, Omnipod Dash™ PDM을 위한 마케팅 승인을 준비 및 획득할 예정이다.

CONTOUR(R)NEXT ONE BGMS는 2016년 11월 FDA로부터 510(k) 승인을 받았으며, 2016년에 발표된 FDA 일반 의약품 BGMS 지침의 더욱 엄격한 정확도 요건을 충족시키는 것으로 나타났다. 임상 연구 결과, CONTOUR(R)NEXT ONE BGMS를 이용한 혈당 측정 결과 중 95%가 피실험자 손끝 테스트에서 나온 기준 결과의 8.4%에 해당하는 8.4 mg/dL (0.5 mmol/L) 미만인 것으로 나타났다.[1]

Ascensia Diabetes Care Announces Strategic Alliance with Insulet Corporation to Connect CONTOUR(R)NEXT ONE BGMS and Omnipod Dash™ PDM
BASEL, Switzerland, June 8, 2017/PRNewswire/ -- Ascensia Diabetes Care today announced it has entered into a strategic alliance by signing a development agreement with Insulet Corporation (NASDAQ: PODD), the leader in tubeless insulin pump [https://www.myomnipod.com/explore-omnipod/omnipod-system/ ] technology with its Omnipod(R) Insulin Management System (the Omnipod System). Under the terms of this agreement, the Ascensia CONTOUR(R)NEXT ONE blood glucose monitoring system (BGMS) will connect to Insulet’s next-generation Omnipod System (the Omnipod Dash™ System), which is currently in development. Seamlessly connecting the CONTOUR(R)NEXT ONE BGMS and the Omnipod Dash™ System will provide people living with diabetes with an innovative continuous insulin delivery system to manage their diabetes, powered by remarkably accurate blood glucose readings.
The CONTOUR(R)NEXT ONE BGMS will pair, via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), with the Omnipod Dash™ Personal Diabetes Manager (Omnipod Dash™ PDM) to automatically transmit a person’s blood glucose readings directly into the system. These readings will be used by the Omnipod Dash™ PDM to calculate insulin dosing and support highly accurate delivery of insulin for people living with diabetes. Under the terms of this worldwide non-exclusive agreement, Insulet will develop and seek marketing clearance for the Omnipod Dash™ PDM, with collaboration from Ascensia Diabetes Care who will provide the CONTOUR(R)NEXT ONE meter and CONTOUR(R)NEXT test strips.

The CONTOUR(R)NEXT ONE BGMS received 510(k) clearance from the FDA in November 2016 and has been shown to meet the stricter accuracy requirements of the FDA Over-the-Counter BGMS Guidance that was recently issued in 2016. In a clinical study, 95% of blood glucose results obtained with the CONTOUR(R)NEXT ONE BGMS were within 8.4 mg/dL (0.5 mmol/L) or 8.4% of the reference result for subject fingertip tests.[1]
