A group of tourists walked into an upscale restaurant in San Francisco and ordered sandwiches and soft drinks. When the waitress handed the bill to the man sitting at the end of the table, he stood up with a surprised look on his face and exclaimed, “Why, all we had were sandwiches and soft drinks!”

The waitress calmly replied, “Sir, you have to pay for the ambiance too.”

“All right,” said the man, turning to his friends, “which one of you ordered the ambiance?”

한 무리의 관광객들이 샌프란시스코의 고급 식당에 들어가 샌드위치와 청량음료를 주문했다. 그런데 웨이트리스가 맨 끝에 앉아 있는 사람에게 계산서를 갖다주자 그는 사뭇 놀란 표정으로 벌떡 자리에서 일어나 언성을 높였다. “아니, 우리가 먹은 거라곤 샌드위치하고 청량음료뿐인데!” “손님, 분위기 값도 있잖아요.” 웨이트리스는 침착하게 대답했다.

“알았어요”라고 말한 그는 동료들에게 물었다. “분위기는 누가 주문한 거요?”
